Who we are
This privacy notice explains how puppycostcalculator.com collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit this website. We are the data controller for the information described here. If you have any questions about this notice or about how your data is handled, you can contact us at shenoyvaliyavilayil@gmail.com.
We are based in the United Kingdom, and we handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
We aim to collect as little personal data as possible. In practice this falls into three groups.
Information you give us
If you send us a message through our contact form or by email, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you choose to write in your message. We only use this to reply to you and to keep a record of the correspondence.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server records technical information each time a page is requested. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page you requested, the page that referred you and the date and time of the request. This information is used for security, for diagnosing faults and for understanding which pages are useful.
Calculator inputs
The calculators and tools on this site run entirely in your own browser. When you select a breed, an age or a location in one of our calculators, that choice is processed on your device and is not sent to us or stored on our servers. We do not build a profile of your dog or of your household from these inputs.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it is used. Essential cookies are required for basic functions such as remembering your cookie preferences. Analytics cookies help us see which pages are visited and how people move through the site, in aggregate.
If advertising is displayed on this site, advertising partners may set their own cookies to measure performance and to limit how often you see the same advert. Full detail, including how to refuse non-essential cookies, is set out in our Cookie Policy.
Why we are allowed to use your data
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for processing personal data. Where you contact us, our basis is legitimate interests: we need to be able to answer the people who write to us. Where we use non-essential cookies, our basis is your consent, which you can give or withdraw at any time. Where we keep server logs for security, our basis is again legitimate interests, specifically protecting the site from abuse.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for other organisations’ marketing. We do rely on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: our web host, which stores the site and its server logs, our email provider, and any analytics or advertising provider in use. Each of these is bound to handle the data only on our instructions.
We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so, for example in response to a valid request from law enforcement or a court.
International transfers
Some of our providers operate outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred abroad, we rely on the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Contact enquiries are kept for up to two years after the matter is closed, so that we can pick up a conversation if you write again. Server logs are kept for a short period, normally no more than twelve months. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete data, to object to processing or to ask us to restrict it, and to receive your data in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email shenoyvaliyavilayil@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge for making a request.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113.
Children
This site is aimed at adults who are considering or already own a dog. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Our pages sometimes link to external organisations such as breed clubs, rescue charities, veterinary bodies or retailers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their own notices before providing them with information.

We review this notice periodically and will update it when our practices change. The date below shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
